STRANGE TIDES is a quirky opener chronicling a hamster’s journey through rough and smooth sailing at sea. With a driving, rhythmic melody in mixed meter, this piece provides an excellent opportunity to develop rhythmic precision and syncopation. STRANGE TIDES was commissioned by the East Oldham Middle School Band, under the direction of Brandon Etienne and premiered at the 2026 KMEA conference in Louisville, KY.
