Orchestras can and should be a reflection of the communities they reside in, serving as hubs for music education, music literacy, artistic excellence, and collaboration within their communities. Community engagement must center the needs of the community and feature stakeholders as equal collaborators. My community work alongside orchestras engages community youth, members, and thought leaders, as artistic collaborators, co-creating and presenting original music that addresses needs and desires of the community.
