In the Beginning explores the excitement of new worlds forming, colliding, and shifting into place. Legato figures and florid gestures shift throughout the ensemble as soft woodwind and string features juxtapose stately brass and rambunctious percussion. In the Beginning was commissioned by the Emory University Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Paul Bhasin during the 2021-2022 season.
