World Premiere: Light

There are times when that which frees us, also confines us; a confounding state of being. Light is also paradoxical in this manner. Soft and pure, yet piercing and harsh. More complex is its absence- empty, silent, still.

Based on primarily on intervallic relationships of a second and a seventh, this piece explores the complexities of light. Its ability to be free, yet confining.
Void, yet all consuming.

Composed for chamber SSA vocal ensemble.

Premiered at the AJ Fletcher Recital Hall in Greenville, NC on April 1st, 2017.
