Connected for viola, piano, and fixed media will be premiered on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube by violist Ashleigh Gordon and pianist Anthony R. Green. The piece will premiere on Castle of our Skins’ social media platforms as apart of the #BCMC initiative. The piece was inspired by the paradoxical feelings of isolation and mediated connectedness many are experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I wanted to share this work so that people know that artists are not only creating in spite of a global pandemic, but we are allowing our new, mediated normal to inspire our creative output and restructure how we create, disseminate, and consume art. Art is essential as we navigate this "new normal" and find ways to connect with one another in our new, mediated world.
